Female Skate Fashion…. Passion deeper than clothes
It takes a creative mind to carve something out of a slab of concrete. It takes a creative mind to live outside the box. It takes a creative mind to express passion through fashion. True skate fashion is not just about the clothes; it’s brings together attitude, functionality, movement, and passion.

A person in environment approach to ultimate success, Gladwell gives insight into such phenoms as the Beatles and Bill Gates and what really goes into the stew of success. With Gladwell nothing is ever taken at face value as he challenges what we think we know about the world around us.
Bullets for Better Blogging
A handful of tips to aid bloggers in creating sticky posts. This post includes tips such as simplicity, scanability, keeping your post fresh and keeping your readers involved along with several other points to help guide you as you create better blog posts.
Building A Media Center Computer: Part 1 – Core Components
This will be a multi-part blog outlining how to build a computer for the purpose of being a media center. A media center is a computer that is geared towards the recording of TV and/or hosting your DVD/Blu-ray movies. This is Part 1: Building the Computer - Core Components, the other parts links will become active as I post the blogs. This portion of the blog will outline how to build any computer but once again our end goal will be to build a media center and more specifically a media server.
Remember the True Meaning of Hot Chocolate
On chilly winter nights, a hankering sometimes comes. This hankering has something specific in mind…it wants a texture, a temperature, and most importantly, a taste. It wants hot chocolate.
Brand Your Books
My books are some of my favorite possessions, and I like having my name written inside them.
I hope to buy a custom made embosser to use on all the books in my personal library (as well as a custom made wax seal for letter writing) some time in the not too distant future. But I don't have one yet, so my books still need branding!
Splinter Cell: Conviction
I have been a long time fan of the Splinter Cell series and Splinter Cell: Conviction is the newest release and marks a major change in the game play style of the series. Does Conviction hold its own against its great ancestors or does it strike out? Find out after the Jump!
Let’s talk about Spring, Folks
I've always kept notes about music that I hear, on my phone but I've recently moved to recording all my thoughts down on receipts... they're convenient and I always have at least one in my wallet. This has come in handy while contemplating thi
s post, I've just compiled all of my receipts and it's given me more than enough material. Some songs are old, some new but they are all brilliant.
This is what I'm going to call my spring playlist. Songs I think you should have on your playlist because they're just that good.
My 3D Solution
Unless you’re living under a rock (metaphorically) chances are you’ve noticed the explosion of 3D. It’s in movies, TV shows, music videos, photos; about the only thing that isn’t 3D are my Doritos.
Now in no way is this a 3D bashing post. After all, I always opt for 3D movies over their 2D counterparts without fail. My biggest problem with 3D is the stupid glasses. Their universal fit allows them be shared with a pumpkin (Ichabod Crane could appreciate that). They’re so big that light radiating from exit signs and running lights ends up creating glare inside my glasses; which in turns makes it so I end up watching my eyeballs while they watch a movie. Last night I found a solution. One word: hooded sweat shirt. It’s neither imaginative or novel, but it works! I pulled it up tight and blocked out all the distracting light. I'm sure I looked like the Unabomber, but I was able to watch Clash of the Titans (awesome!) like a pro. Try it out and you can join me in looking like an idiot this summer while wearing a sweater to the theatre.
PS. I stole the photo from the amazing Dave Hill
What the Heartbroken Old Lady on the Bus Used to Look Like
I don't mean to write about love letters again but when I was writing that post about invisible ink back in February I came across a cool story involving love letters and that stunning young (now old) woman in the picture above. It's a mystery story, and a love story, and scandalous.
Grooveshark: Power to the Playlist
This past year my sister-in-law, and fellow author Melanie, showed me an alternative to the overused and overrated Pandora. Skeptical at first, I never really returned to Grooveshark until this past month after using up my 40 hours of monthly playtime from Pandora (grrrr!).
I hope this article prods you enough to check out Grooveshark and give it a better chance than I did at first. Here is a quick review of why YOU should be using Grooveshark and take more control over your ear candy.
pi day is Sunday
For all you math geeks like me out there, Sunday celebrates the annual reminder of an aspect of our nerdy behavior: Pi Day.
For all you mere mortals, here's an explanation: Pi is the Greek letter used to symbolize the numerical value of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (it's the number of times the diameter can go around the circle). The number begins 3.14.... Thus, March 14 (3/14) marks the day for its celebration.
What does this mean? Time to throw a Pi(e) party!
But how? Once again, I shall come to your rescue.
Make March My Mixed Tape!
I decided to make mixed tapes* for random friends… because it’s awesome! Plus it’s kind of a challenge. I have to think long and hard about what music they might not have, but would probably like. Then I have to make sure the order has structure to it. I hate switching genres too quickly. My goal is to give away at least one mixed tape a month, and I’m starting with March!
This month featured Julian Casablancas, Dead Man’s Bones, Beck, Charlotte Gainsbourg , Mike Gordon, Animal Collective, and many more.
*of course I’m not making cassette tapes… that would be ridiculous!
The LOST reading list (for honors students)
I first browsed through the LOST library after I heard this broadcast on NPR, about the books found in LOST. Like the author of that broadcast, and any other watcher of the show, I am pretty obsessed. When an episode ends, I need something LOST related to fill the void until the next one airs.
Luckily for all of us junkies, the show has literary references galore, books that can keep us occupied in the meantime and whose similar themes can aid in our endless speculations. When the dreadful day of the series finale comes, these books might be the only thing that keeps me sane.
The NPR piece mentions three of the author's favorite books that make appearances on the show, but a more comprehensive list can be found here on Lostpedia. There's a lot there, it will help satisfy the cravings.
Another site, Dark UFO also has a section dedicated to the books found on LOST. In fact, the official LOST website did have a "LOST Book Club" feature, but I don't think they do any more (I can't find it). However the official online store still sells a few of these books .
My fellow friends of the Church of Dharma Initiative of Latter-day Lost, of the Church of LOST-Scientist, the Catholost faith, Je-smokemonster-vahs Witnesses, our show is reaching its conclusion (even though it doesn't feel like it). And after the last Harry Potter movies are made, there won't be anything left worth watching. We'll just have to read LOST-related literature instead, and watch old episodes of LOST on dvd forever.
